The national minimum standards for children’s homes are issued by the Secretary of State for Health under Section 23 of the Care Standards Act 2000. These standards are used by the National Care Standards Commission when making judgements regarding registration, variation of conditions and compliance of children’s homes with the Care Standards Act. They may also be used by providers and staff of homes to assess their own services and as a basis for induction and staff training.
